A 65″ screen has 40% more area than a 55″, and a 75″ 33% more than a 65″.
Where the data comes from
Specs and prices come from each maker's own US website and spec data, energy use from ENERGY STAR or the federal EnergyGuide label. Each TV's page links the source of every figure; anything a maker does not publish is shown as not published.
Size guidance uses the SMPTE (30° field of view) and THX (40°) viewing-angle guidelines. Running costs use each TV's yearly energy use and the EIA average residential electricity rate.
"Good for" labels follow fixed rules on published specs: gaming needs 120 Hz+, HDMI 2.1 and VRR; bright rooms 1,000+ nits peak; movies an OLED or Mini-LED panel with Dolby Vision or HDR10+; sports 120 Hz. We do not test TVs ourselves.
